Food festivals in the Carolinas are a feast for the senses—think sizzling grills, live tunes, and flavors that scream Southern soul. North and South Carolina host some of the tastiest, pulling crowds with local eats and big vibes. These four are the can’t-miss culinary throwdowns of 2025.

1. NC Oyster Festival – Ocean Isle Beach, NC

Mid-October brings this coastal bash, celebrating NC’s briny bounty. Slurp fresh oysters raw, roasted, or fried, paired with shrimp boils and hushpuppies. The 2024 fest saw 15,000 attendees shucking and jamming to beach bands. Cooking demos and an oyster-eating contest keep it rowdy. Best for: seafood lovers’ paradise.

2. South Carolina Peanut Party – Pelion, SC

Late August in Pelion means peanuts—boiled, roasted, and baked into pies. This small-town fest (since 1969) draws 5,000 for its quirky Peanut Parade and all-you-can-eat peanut butter treats. Local farms supply the goods, and live bluegrass keeps toes tapping. Best for: nutty fun and rural charm.

3. Taste of Charlotte – Charlotte, NC

Early June turns Uptown Charlotte into a foodie free-for-all. Over 100 vendors sling bites—think BBQ sliders, crab cakes, and craft brews—across three days. The 2024 event hit 200,000 visitors, with live music and chef showdowns. It’s free to enter; grab “taste coins” for sampling. Best for: urban eats and big crowds.

4. Lowcountry Cajun Festival – Charleston, SC

April’s Cajun Fest at James Island County Park spices up Charleston. Crawfish étouffée, jambalaya, and alligator bites headline, with 8,000 attendees in 2024 dancing to zydeco bands. Gator wrestling and a Cajun cook-off add flair. It’s $20 at the gate—worth every penny. Best for: bold flavors and swamp vibes.

Why They Rock

Oysters bring coastal grit, peanuts nod to farm roots, Charlotte’s scale wows, and Cajun spice shakes things up. These fests dish out the Carolinas’ culinary diversity on a platter.

Catch Them

Hit Taste of Charlotte (June 6-8, likely), then Peanut Party (August 23-24, TBD). Swing to NC Oyster Fest (October 18-19, TBD) and backtrack to Cajun Fest (April 12, likely). Check sites for 2025 dates—book early for Charleston!
